Manchester United vs Manchester City: Predicted XI

Manchester United face a crunch match against Manchester City on Wednesday night, the Red Devils will need a miracle to get to the EFL final.

The Manchester derby has always been one of the most anticipated games in the history of Manchester United. Back in the glory days fans often looked forward to games against City as easy victories and opportunities to boast about the club’s success in comparison to the blue side of Manchester who lingered in mediocrity.

The tables have certainly turned in the past decade. With wealthy investment into Manchester City, the blues have been moulded into one of the best teams in world football. Meanwhile without the strong influence and charismatic presence of Sir Alex Ferguson the Red Devils have fallen down the ranks and their fortunes have turned drastically. It is now the blue side of Manchester who fights for league titles and the Red merely battles for a European spot.

The disparity between the two teams have perhaps never been greater than in the current moment. Especially with United’s thin squad due to their mounting injury crisis. United will travel to the Etihad in the EFL Cup semi-final hoping to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg. It means they must score three goals against City.

That seems hopeless with the absence of both Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford. Nonetheless Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will no doubt give a fight and anything can happen in football.

Here is how Manchester United are expected to line-up against Manchester City:

Goalkeeper: Sergio Romero

Right Back: Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Centre Back: Victor Lindelof

Centre Back: Harry Maguire

Left Back: Brandon Williams

Holding Midfielder: Nemanja Matic

Central Midfielder: Fred

Central Midfielder: Juan Mata

Right Winger: Daniel James

Forward: Anthony Martial

Left Winger: Mason Greenwood

Currently this is the strongest side Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has at his disposal and the Norwegian is expected to play them in the hope they can get something out of the game and lead the Red Devils to a Wembley final.

What do you think can Manchester United get to the final of the EFL Cup?
