Manchester United have purportedly made a shocking target to try to bring to Old Trafford in order to solve the club’s injury crisis.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has one sole target at Manchester United. He wants to get the Red Devils back to where they belong. It is a target which seems unassailable upon first glance. United have performed well below par so far this season. The club is in turmoil.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a mountain to climb. Especially since the start of 2020, things have started on a rapid downward spiral for the club.

United have lost games to Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Burnley already in the month of January. That is no acceptable for a club of the Red Devils stature.

But things have been rather unsatisfactory off the pitch too. January was supposed to herald a new dawn for the club with new signings added to bolster the depleted Manchester United squad. However instead, January has merely brought about more depletion.

Paul Pogba suffered a new injury, Scott McTominay is still out on the sidelines and Ashley Young departed the club to sign for Inter Milan. Even worse the club’s star player Marcus Rashford could potentially be out of action until the end of the season.

That has left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer extremely short of attacking options and it means the Norwegian has been forced into participating in the transfer market.

But January is notorious for its difficult market as clubs are unwilling to let their best players go midseason. It means the Norwegian will be fighting for scraps.

And according to Sky Sports Manchester United are looking at trying to sign Odion Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua.

Odion Ighalo spent 3 years in the Premier League and scored a total of 33 goals in 83 appearances for Watford before moving to China in 2017.

He is already 30 years old and eyebrows will be raised about the Red Devils targeting him as Odion Ighalo seems to be winding his career down.

Nevertheless he is a proven goalscorer and perhaps on a temporary basis he would not be a bad addition.
