The Manchester United boss seems to have identified the perfect short term solution to replace the injured Marcus Rashford at Old Trafford.

As the final whistle blew against Burnley on Wednesday night, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a deep breath. He grimaced and stretched his face taut. There was a flicker of a forced smile to veil his bitter disappointment. The defeat could not have come at a worse time for Manchester United.

Manchester United are embroiled in utter disaster at the moment. The herald of the new decade has so far not reaped the rewards which were expected. On Wednesday after Chelsea’s draw with Arsenal United had the opportunity to close the five point gap between their biggest rival for the top four. Instead the defeat increased it to six.

On the pitch the absence of key players such as Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford were blatantly obvious.

With only a short time remaining in the January transfer window the club do not have long to ensure the absence of key players isn’t felt for any longer.

The club desperately needs to replace Marcus Rashford in particular. The Red Devils’ top scorer could be out for the entire season and his goals will now need to come from somewhere else.

According to the BleacherReport via the Daily Express one of the club’s targets is the Real Madrid frontman Luka Jovic who is ‘admired’ by Manchester United.

Luke Jovic had a stellar and prolific season in the Bundesliga last season but since he made the big money move to the Galacticos things have started to turn sour.

The Serbian international has failed to fight himself into the reckoning and is on the periphery of first team action.

Yet the forward is still just 22 years of age with plenty of time to develop and according to the report United are only interested in signing him on loan as cover during the absence of Rashford.

That would not be a huge gamble and Jovic could turn his career around at Old Trafford.
