Manchester United: Alex Ferguson identifies Solskjaer’s replacement

The former Manchester United boss and legend seems to have identified the perfect replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

When a relationship breaks down, in most cases it is not a sudden occurrence. You can always sense that there is something wrong, something not quite right. Nothing seems to be going in the right direction. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stint as Manchester United boss has often felt that way.

There were sparks in the beginning of course as in every relationship there always are. Yet as the two got to know each other better and better things have started to go on a downward spiral.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first full season with the Red Devils has merited very little to celebrate. Granted the Norwegian has had a hapless spell with injuries and the club’s board have been dully inept at bringing in any replacements to ease the load off his shoulders. However some of the results at United have been well below par.

The issue does not stem solely from Solskjaer. There are many underlying factors but the Norwegian doesn’t appear to be the man who will solve them.

Sir Alex Ferguson purportedly agrees. The former United legend of course endured much sweeter and brighter time as the Red Devils’ boss. He masterminded European victories and a hoard of Premier League titles.

He was renowned for putting together a world class squad time and time again. The man was a genius and one of a kind.

And it seems Sir Alex Ferguson doesn’t see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the right man for the Manchester United job. According to the Daily Mail via the Daily Express, Sir Alex Ferguson ‘believed’ the club should have gone for Mauricio Pochettino when they were faced with the decision about who should replace Jose Mourinho.

Mauricio Pochettino is now of course on the market and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s results not improving perhaps the Red Devils may opt to heed the thinking of their former boss.
