Manchester United want van de Beek and one other Ajax star

Manchester United have set their sights on not one but two Ajax stars in the January transfer window in order to resolve the club’s issues.

On the pitch, in the stands and through the television screens one thing appears crystal clear about the state of Manchester United. It is blatantly obvious to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was left puffing his cheeks, with his hands in his pocket and an all too familiar grimace on his face after the club’s first leg Carabao Cup semi-final tie with Manchester City.

The Manchester United midfield is spineless. It is without any tactical mettle, dynamism and lack direction.

There is nothing to credit them with. Manchester City weaved through them with ease as if the Red Devils’ midfield was non existent but merely an illusion or an intangible projection.

It was too easy for Pep Guardiola’s side and it left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scratching his head. One thing is clear. The Norwegian needs reinforcements and extra injections to the midfield. He needs the right players and the right quality so that he can implement his own vision.

With the January transfer window upon us, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Manchester United board are desperately trying to find solutions to fix the Red Devils’ problems.

In Ajax Amsterdam, inside the famous glittering Johan Cruyff Arena and on the immaculate grass turf, two of the Dutch club’s up and coming players seems to have caught the attention of Solskjaer.

According to ESPN via the Daily Express Manchester United ‘like’ both Donny van de Beek and Hakim Ziyech. The Daily Express goes onto claim that Solskjaer could ‘bring’ the pair of them to Old Trafford ‘before the window shuts at the end of the month.’

Hakim Ziyech and Donny van de Beek have been two of Ajax’s star players over the last year or so. The pair of them were thoroughly impressive in the Champions League last season scoring some vital goals.

Donny van de Beek is a great all around midfielder who can play anywhere in the middle of the park and is great defensively and offensively too. His energy could be the ignition to spark life into the Manchester United midfield.

Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech is a creative spark who is renowned for his ability to conjure up key chances for his team-mates – an area which the Manchester United midfield is desperately lacking.

Both could be excellent additions at Old Trafford and with Ajax not normally demanding hefty fees for their players, United could secure some nifty deals for the pair of them.

Next. Manchester United could be set for another Pogba-esque departure. dark

What do you think would Hakim Ziyech and Donny van de Beek be good signings for Manchester United?
