The Manchester United boss has identified the ‘next Pirlo’ as one of his ideal arrivals in January to fix the club’s midfield problems.
The elegance. The grace. The marvel. The genius. Andrea Pirlo made one blurt out every superlative under the sun during his lavish and illustrious career. The Italian was a true artist of the game. He played with a style which one could only describe as a master piece. If Pirlo was a painting on a canvas, he would have belonged to Van Gogh or Michaelangelo. Manchester United experienced the Italian’s brilliance first hand during the 2009/10 season when the Red Devils played back to back in the Champions League knockout stages against AC Milan.
Despite United running riot against Milan, Pirlo’s sheer quality was a joy to behold. The Italian was a master on the ball. With every touch, every delicate pass he made football seem like an elaborate machine. The ball seemed weightless upon his touch. His passing and his dribbling was one of a kind.
Never in the club’s history have Manchester United been in such a dire need for a player like Andrea Pirlo to join the club in the current moment. Solskjaer has been suffering with an inadequate and quite frankly torrid midfield which lack desire, quality and creativity. They are passive and lifeless.
Solskjaer desperately needs some new injection and blood into his midfield and it seems he has found an ideal candidate in the same ilk as Andrea Pirlo in Brescia’s Sandro Tonali. According to the Daily Express United ‘have been reportedly scouting the 19 year old for the past 18 months.’
Yet United’s pursuit may not be so simple. Tuttosport via the Daily Express also report that Juventus could enter the chase for the Italian wonderkid.
That means Solskjaer will have to act swiftly if he is indeed serious about providing some much needed firepower to his midfield.
Sandro Tonali would be the perfect candidate. His playing style is indeed very similar to the great Pirlo. Tonali plays with the same grace and the same composure and elegance. He too is an artist of the game and at Old Trafford he could find his canvas.
What do you think would Sandro Tonali be a good signing for Manchester United?
