Manchester United: Solskjaer’s target’s replacement already identified
By Bence Bocsak
The Manchester United boss seems to have been given a huge boost as his target’s team have already identified his replacement.
As the final whistle rung out in the Emirates stadium on the cold January evening there were jubilant cheers from the home crowd. In antithesis, a grimace hung on the face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. A 2-0 defeat was hardly the way he wanted to herald the new decade at Manchester United. The dire performance made it even more sour for the travelling fans.
The result made one thing clear and evident if it wasn’t already.
Manchester United are far from the finished article. There are still many improvements needed at the club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s quest has only just begun.
The Norwegian may have suffered a disappointing result, but there have been some highs to counter those lows with victories in the Manchester derby and against Tottenham and Chelsea. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs time to mould his team and craft them into a winning formula.
And for that the Norwegian needs money too. There is no reason as to why he should not be given sufficient funds by the Manchester United board and with January already upon us, it is time for the Norwegian to start making new investments.
We have already reported about Solskjaer’s purported interest in the 20 year old Portuguese midfielder Gedson Fernandes. The holding midfielder seems to be on his way out of Benfica and Manchester United may have been given a further boost in their pursuit.
According to reports via the Daily Mail Benfica are about to sign Julian Weigl of Dortmund. Weigl plays in a very similar position to Gedson Fernandes and he has surely been brought into the Portuguese club as a replacement for the Manchester United target.
United are in dire need of reinforcements to their midfield with long term injuries for Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba as well as the recent departure of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.
Gedson Fernandes might just be the man to given Solskjaer’s side that desperately needed injection.
What do you think would Gedson Fernandes be a good signing for Manchester United?
