Manchester United: Five signings Solskjaer could make in January

2. Emre Can
Very rarely in the history of football do transfers go so horribly wrong for players as Emre Can’s move to Juventus has gone for the German international. At Liverpool Emre Can was undoubtedly one of the club’s best midfielders and hugely admired by Jurgen Klopp.
Can was crucial in helping Liverpool to a top four finish and reaching the Champions League final before suffering a defeat against Real Madrid in Kiev.
He seemed like a major coup when Juventus announced him as a free transfer in the summer, yet it hasn’t quite turned out that way for the former Liverpool midfielder.
Emre Can has struggled to break into the Juventus side already blessed with very talented midfielders and he found himself on the periphery of the action.
Now in his second season at the club, Emre Can’s fortunes have turned even more sour with the German international not even included in the club’s Champions League squad for the group stages.
His present situation at Juventus is dire and it is what Manchester United could exploit in January. It is no secret Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs reinforcements in midfield and Emre Can would be a more than adequate addition.
He has already proven himself at Liverpool and he is also a German international who was a key part of Germany’s squad before his lack of opportunities at Juventus stifled him out of the recognition.
Can has the pace, energy, marauding runs forward and the defensive ability as well as the versatility which could inject a breath of fresh air to the United squad.
He has been linked with the club over a potential move already so with Solskjaer clearly interested and with Emre Can desperate to leave Juventus this deal could be very likely in the January transfer window.
