The Manchester United target has been tipped to sign for the Red Devils’ arch rivals, Liverpool, in the January transfer window.

In recent times Manchester United have been forced to watch many of the transfer targets they have identified join their arch nemesis further down the map in Liverpool. From the likes of Roberto Firmino to the more current arrival of Takumi Minamino a whole host of players opted to chose Anfield over Old Trafford as their home stadium over the past few years. The most bitter aspect of missing out on these targets has not just been the fact that Manchester United had missed out but the fact that the players in question have gone onto become very successful additions for Liverpool.

It has been a hard pill to swallow and something the Old Trafford faithful have not been used to in the past with the club having dominated for decades over their rivals under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Unfortunately however the Red Devils’ bitter disappointment could continue into the January transfer window. According to former Manchester United hero and legend Paul Parker via the Daily Express signing the Red Devils’ current target Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford would be ‘really hard’ and Parker has suggested it would be much ‘easier’ for Bruno Fernandes to sign for Liverpool instead.

The Portuguese midfielder who plays for Sporting Lisbon has been linked with both Manchester United and Liverpool in the past and this admission by the club’s former legend is a very damning and pertinent point.

Bruno Fernandes is an extremely talented midfielder and the current Sporting Lisbon captain. He has a great knack for creating chances for his teammates and scoring goals from long distance. His talent could enable him to play for any of Europe’s elite clubs which means that right now Manchester United probably wouldn’t be Fernandes’ ideal destination. Realistically speaking the Portuguese midfielder would probably have more lucrative offers.

It is this aspect of the club that Manchester United need to rectify quickly. The Red Devils must appeal to the sports’ elite players once more as an ideal destination for their careers.

If the club does not rectify this, Bruno Fernandes and the others mentioned above might not be the only players United will miss out on to Liverpool.
