The Manchester United boss has been tipped to target one of the club’s arch rivals, Manchester City’s star player in the transfer window.

The rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City is one of the fiercest in the club’s history. Over the years the battles between the two teams have been both exciting and intense and it has endured many brawls and arguments.

Of course in recent times Manchester City have surpassed United in form and after years of obscurity the blue side of Manchester are currently having a golden era. The Red Devils have often been forced to watch their rival’s success from the sidelines following their fall from grace after the departure of the club’s legendary boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Carlos Tevez once moved from Manchester United to Manchester City which made him infamous with the Old Trafford faithful and the club’s fans still haven’t quite forgiven him.

Now perhaps it is time for Manchester United to be the ones to pounce on one of Manchester City’s star players.

An article on Football365 by a Manchester United fan has suggested that Manchester United should make a move for Phil Foden in order to solve the lack of creativity in their midfield.

Phil Foden has had a lack of opportunities as he tries to make his breakthrough at Manchester City and it is clear his talent is being wasted by Pep Guardiola right now.

With Phil Foden’s dad an ardent Manchester United supporter himself he could persuade his son to join his beloved club. It would certainly make it easier for senior Foden to watch the Manchester derby.

And at United Phil Foden would be under a manager who loves to give youth a chance. Obviously he wouldn’t need to relocate either and it could be the perfect place for him to develop and blossom in order to fulfil his potential.

He is clearly a major talent and stealing him away from Manchester City’s grasp could be a huge coup by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It would be the boldest move of the decade and it could torment Manchester City fans for decades, what Manchester United fan would not love to see that?
