Why Manchester United should re-sign Wilfried Zaha

Wilfried Zaha didn’t have the best of times at Manchester United, but he is exactly the kind of player they need right now.

Manchester United have had a problem with their right-wing position for far too long now.

Managers over the years have tended to field attacking midfielders, left-wingers and even fullbacks to cover the position due to a lack of natural right-sided wingers at the club.

This is something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to address this summer if he wants to avoid going into next season with the same problem that has been plaguing the team for quite some time now.

However, he may not need to look very long for a suitable candidate, as there is a player who has donned the United shirt before who, although was a disappointment at the time, is ready to have a second chance at the club.

I am of course talking about Wilfried Zaha, who joined the Red Devils from Crystal Palace back in 2013 before being loaned and eventually sold back to the Eagles after making just two Premier League appearances.

Zaha wasn’t ready to make the major step up to playing for a top side. However, since returning to Palace, he has clearly put in the work and looks the real deal now.

Re-signing the 26-year-old makes perfect sense, as he can play at right-wing and is already very familiar with the club and the staff from his time at Old Trafford.

What’s more is that United have just completed the transfer of Zaha’s Palace teammate Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who he has developed a close friendship with.

With Zaha at right wing and Wan-Bissaka at right-back, we could finally see some creativity down the right-hand side of the pitch, which fans have been starved of in recent years.

Even if United have to give Palace another £50million to convince them to part with another of their star players, it would be worth it, as the club will have a right-winger who is just about to hit his prime.
