Manchester United should rinse Inter Milan for Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan are reportedly close to signing Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United. However, the Red Devils shouldn’t let their striker leave that easily.

Romelu Lukaku has had a tough time at Manchester United since arriving at the club from Everton back in 2016 for a fee of £75million.

The striker scored just 16 goals in the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford and then a measly 12 in his follow-up campaign.

These figures are a far cry from the numbers the Belgian was getting at Everton, which include an impressive 25-goal tally in the league in his final season at the club.

Lukaku is now eager to leave the club this summer and, according to reports, has already agreed terms with Italian side Inter Milan for a transfer this summer.

This move would be beneficial for all the parties involved, as United would be offloading a problematic player and Inter would be gaining a striker more suited to their playstyle.

However, United shouldn’t just gift Lukaku to the Serie A club that easily. Remember the Ivan Perisic saga from a few seasons ago?

Then-manager Jose Mourinho was keen to add a wide player to his squad and had identified Inter’s own Perisic as the ideal candidate to fill this gap.

However, Inter made things as hard as possible for the Red Devils, asking for ludicrous fees that were supposedly as high as £62million according to some reports.

The transfer ultimately fell through, as United were unwilling to pay such a high fee for a player who was getting on in age and hadn’t won much throughout his career to justify it.

Now that the tables have turned, and Inter want one of our players, we should rinse them for as much money as we possibly can to make up for them ruining what could have been a great signing for us.
