The majority of Manchester United’s global superstars have now made their journey’s home after a busy fortnight of international football. I look back at the last week of games as well as preview the Copa America.

After David de Gea’s Spain clinched victory over Sweden on Monday, there were only two fixtures involving Manchester United players left of European qualifying.

Paul Pogba and France

France and Paul Pogba travelled to Andorra hoping to bounce back from their 2-0 shock defeat to Turkey and Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku went head to head as Scotland looked to go level on points with opponents Belgium in Group I.

Pogba lined up for France in central midfield alongside a man he could be playing with next season in Tanguy Ndombele. The Lyon midfielder has been linked with a move away from the club this summer with Tottenham Hotspur and United some of the top clubs supposedly interested.

It didn’t take long for Les Bleus to get on the score sheet, Kylian Mbappe netted after 11 minutes. Wissam Ben Yedder and Florian Thauvin added two more before the half time whistle.

It was Pogba’s clipped ball into the box which helped put France 2-0 up. His cross was met by a defender who failed to clear convincingly before the ball eventually made its way to Ben Yedder, who made no mistake from just inside the 18-yard box.

Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma made it four to round off an emphatic performance and mark their return to the top of Group H.

McTominay vs Lukaku

Scott McTominay started for Scotland against Belgium on Tuesday coming up against United teammate Romelu Lukaku. It was the Belgian who stole the show though, netting a brace for his side in a 3-0 win.

Steve Clarke’s Scottish team managed to hold off the Red Devils for 45 minutes, however, into the additional time of the first half Lukaku bagged his first. He made it 2-0 just before the hour mark before Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne rounded of a comfortable day at the office.

The win takes Roberto Martinez’s Belgium side to the top of Group I, with Scotland six points behind in fourth.

Alexis Sanchez’s Chile start Copa America

Manchester United’s number seven Alexis Sanchez will be hoping to make it a hat-trick of Copa America titles when he and his Chilean teammates play in this year’s Copa America.
