Reports suggest that Manchester United are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot, whose contract is set to run out this summer.

Manchester United have offered Adrien Rabiot a “staggering £170,000-a-week” contract in an attempt to lure him away from other interested clubs, according to reports.

The midfielder is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer after falling out with the club’s hierarchy and refusing to sign a new contract.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on signing the France international as part of his plans to revamp the squad, and the club have tabled a deal worth around £9million a year in order to draw him to Old Trafford.

Rabiot came through the ranks at PSG’s academy before going on to make 227 appearances for the first team in all competitions, scoring 24 goals.

However, the 24-year-old has not featured for Thomas Tuchel’s side since December due to an ongoing dispute over his refusal to sign a new deal.

The midfielder was even suspended by the Ligue 1 side after he liked an Instagram post by Patrice Evra celebrating United’s 3-1 victory over PSG at the Parc des Princes, which knocked them out of the Champions League.

United, Tottenham, Barcelona and Juventus have all been monitoring the Frenchman’s situation at PSG this season, but excessive wage demands prevented any of them from making a move for him in the January transfer window.

However, the same report in The Daily Mail has suggested that while Rabiot is tempted by United’s massive offer this summer, he would prefer to join their Premier League rivals, Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have just been crowned Champions of Europe after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Champions League final, making them a more attractive destination than United, who will be playing in the Europa League next season after finishing outside of the top four this campaign.

Rabiot is also understood to be a huge admirer of Liverpool legend and former midfielder Steven Gerrard, which could further tempt him to snub United in favour of a move to Anfield this summer.
