Jose Mourinho’s Liverpool comments will anger Manchester United fans

Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool after their Champions League title win while failing to acknowledge his own disastrous campaigns with Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has managed to keep his name in the headlines long after he was sacked by Manchester United following their embarrassing 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.

The Portuguese has gone on to make numerous television appearances as a pundit, providing insightful commentary and analysis on various footballing fixtures – most recently the Champions League final between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

Up until now, Mourinho has been nothing but respectful towards the club that sacked him, refusing to call out either the board or the players when asked to give details about his turbulent time at Old Trafford.

However, the 56-year-old’s latest comments about Liverpool’s Champions League success will anger United fans, as he failed to recognise his own responsibility in their failure in the same competition.

More from Red Devil Armada

Appearing as a pundit on beIN SPORTS alongside former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Mourinho had this to say after Jurgen Klopp’s side sealed their sixth Champions League title:

"“With Real Madrid, it’s three in a row. Why can’t Liverpool do three finals in a row?”“Why Liverpool, with this good team, with this good spirit, with this good empathy. The club, the manager, the players, the fans. Why not a third?”"

The idea that there has to be good empathy between the club, the managers and the players seems to be a dig at his time at United, as Mourinho reportedly had a very sour relationship with the board and his players.

But wasn’t Mourinho himself to blame for this toxic relationship?  He was very open about his dissatisfaction with the board for not giving him the funds to sign more players and constantly berated his players in press conferences.

However, the reason why the board didn’t give him the necessary funds is that he had already wasted millions on signing overrated big-name players who failed to live up to their price tag.

Furthermore, he was clearly to blame for lowering morale in the dressing room with his constant bad-mouthing of players, so it’s hard to blame them for their lack of motivation.

To come out now and praise Liverpool for the harmony within their club is laughable, as Mourinho’s antics were the reason why United were in such disarray during his time here.

Not only were United abysmal in the Champions League under Mourinho, due to the awful league position he left us in at the time of his sacking, United have also failed to secure Champions League football for next season.

dark. Next. Manchester United ready to pinch highly rated youngster off rivals Chelsea!

Now they’ll have to battle it out in the Europa League next season – and Mourinho’s comments about Liverpool only serve to rub salt into United’s wounds.
