Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sell 14 players in mass clear-out!

Reports suggest that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is planning a mass clear-out at Manchester United, which could see up to 14 players leaving the club over the next year.

There’s no denying that the current Manchester United squad is full of players who are clearly not fit enough to wear the shirt.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson departed in 2013 after winning the Premier League in his final season, United have gone on to finish 7th, 5th, 6th, 2nd, and 6th again in subsequent campaigns.

Although the managers in charge throughout this period – David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho – are certainly partially to blame for our poor league positions, the players must also take responsibility for failing to live up to the standards expected of them at a club like United.

Fans are finally beginning to understand this, and instead of turning on their current manager as they had done with Moyes and Mourinho, many are backing him and calling on many of the players to leave the club this time around.

Reports that Solskjaer is looking to sell up to 14 players over the next year should therefore be music to fans’ ears, as it suggests that the United board are finally backing their manager instead of egos in the dressing room.

According to The Sun, Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera were the first to go as part of this squad overhaul, and Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian are set to follow them out this summer.

United are also looking to sell Alexis Sanchez after his miserable stint at Old Trafford – although they would need to find a club willing to pay his astronomical wages.

Romelu Lukaku could also be moved on as part of this overhaul, with Inter Milan reportedly interested in signing the striker this summer.

Youngsters James Wilson and Regan Poole are set to be released by the club after their contracts expire, following various loan spells.

The Red Devils will listen to offers for Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Timothy Fosu-Mensah as well, as they have also spent a number of spells on loan and haven’t impressed.

Ashley Young will reportedly still be at the club next season, although he will not likely stay at Old Trafford any further.

Solskjaer will continue to get rid of more players as he assesses their performances over the next season, so expect a few more names to be added to this list as the campaign progresses.
