How long will Paul Pogba (realistically) stay at Manchester United?

Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United from Juventus three seasons ago. Will the midfielder be on his way out again soon, or can the club hold on to their star player for a little while longer?

Paul Pogba has had his fair share of ups and downs since returning to Manchester United after spending four seasons at Juventus.

Arriving for a then-record transfer fee of £89million, there was immense pressure on the midfielder to perform on his return to Old Trafford right from the get-go.

This didn’t happen, of course, as Pogba managed just five goals and four assists in his first Premier League season since rejoining the club – measly figures for a player who was billed as United’s main man.

Next season was slightly better, as the France international scored six goals and registered 10 assists in the league, helping United to a 2nd place finish – their highest since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.

Although Pogba improved his numbers once again in his third season, with 13 goals and nine assists, he went missing for large parts of the season and was even dropped at one point by then-manager Jose Mourinho.

Over this period, Pogba has won the League Cup and the Europa League but no Premier League or Champions League – which will certainly be nagging on the 26-year-old’s mind.

This could tempt him to look for a move elsewhere this summer, and with the likes of Real Madrid reportedly eyeing the midfielder, is it time for Manchester United fans to say goodbye to their academy graduate once more?

I don’t think so. There has been no concrete transfer news that suggests that Pogba is on his way out this summer, and he has recently been seen promoting United’s 2018-19 Adidas home kit, so it’s safe to say he hasn’t made any plans to leave as of yet.

I reckon that Pogba will stay at United for at least one more season. He has a great relationship with his teammates, the manager and the fans as well.

After that, whether the Frenchman decides to stay at Old Trafford for longer still or leave for Madrid or Paris is anyone’s guess. But for now, we can rest assured knowing that Paul Pogba will not likely be going anywhere this summer.
