What positions do Manchester United need to strengthen in and WHO?

Centre-back
First choice: Raphael Varane; second choice: Harry Maguire
Manchester United need a world class centre half. Fans have known it for years but the additions of Virgil Van Dijk and Aymeric Laporte to Liverpool and Manchester City respectively have accelerated the eagerness.
Raphael Varane seems to fit that mould to me. He’s a player who is still young but has vast amounts of experience. He’s won a World Cup, played in a European Championship final, won four Champions League titles with Real Madrid and won four FIFA Club World Cups. Not a bad CV at 25.
My second choice is Harry Maguire. Perhaps less of a risk as he knows the league very well, but is really at the top level of the game? I’m not sure.
The Leicester City centre-half would be a bit cheaper than Varane and can play out from the back very capably. Both are dominant players, strong in the tackle and very skilful considering their power.
However, according to reports in France, Varane is ready for a new challenge and Manchester United should pay whatever they can to get him.
