Manchester United CAN get past PSG. Here’s how

Although it may seem like an impossible task, Manchester United CAN overturn their 2-0 deficit against Paris Saint-Germain – they just need to stay focused.

Manchester United were woeful in the first leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain last month.

The Red Devils lost 2-0 at Old Trafford with a practically full-strength squad to a PSG side missing two of their deadly front three: Neymar and Edinson Cavani.

PLAYER RATINGS. Scores as low as THREE for Manchester United after abysmal 2-0 loss to PSG at Old Trafford. light

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are gearing up to face the Red and Blues once more at the Parc des Princes in the second leg having already shipped two away goals.

Worse still, the caretaker manager will be without the likes of Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba.

Many would argue that there is no chance Manchester United will progress to the next round of the Champions League, and normally in these circumstances, I’d agree.

However, this side has been anything but normal under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian has become the first manager in the history of this great club to win eight consecutive games away from home.

This ongoing streak includes victories against Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea – so his achievement should not be taken lightly.

Momentum is therefore one key factor that could work in United’s favour when they travel to Paris looking to put together another solid away performance.

Another factor is that, without Pogba, United’s midfield will have to be more compact – which will work in their favour, as PSG will be less likely to open them up with a killer pass down the middle.

Furthermore, as we all know, 2-0 is the most dangerous lead. If we get an early goal, PSG would begin to develop nerves which could open them up for a second – and United will be right back in the tie.

So enough with the negativity – if any side can cause a major upset away from home, it’s Manchester United.

Let’s just hope the players are up for it and that Solskjaer’s tactics are executed to perfection…
