Alexis Sanchez is finished at Manchester United – and maybe even at the top level
By Ali Akbar
Alexis Sanchez was abysmal during Manchester United’s 2-0 loss at Old Trafford to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. His career at the club may be over.
Alexis Sanchez became the first Manchester United player to be publically criticised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Let that sink in.
Indeed, since he took over as caretaker manager, Solskjaer has had nothing but good things to say about his players in post-match interviews and press conferences.
This was a breath of fresh air from the constant moaning and throwing players under the bus we experienced under Jose Mourinho leading up to his sacking.
However, even the baby-faced assassin can’t be positive all the time and was forced to single out Sanchez’s woeful performances against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
After the 2-0 loss, the Norwegian told reporters: “I can’t do anything about Alexis Sanchez when he plays. He needs to find himself because we know there is a quality player there.”
He sounds fed up, doesn’t he?
And the fans are too – that performance in the second half against PSG was a disgrace.
In his 45 minutes on the pitch after coming on for an injured Anthony Martial, Sanchez had zero shots, performed zero dribbles and made zero key passes.
Wow. Just… wow.
And this isn’t the first time he has had an abysmal performance in a United shirt – apart from the 3-1 win against his former side Arsenal in the FA Cup last month, the Chilean has had no impact in games whatsoever.
It’s time for United to consider letting the 30-year-old go. He’s the highest paid player in the Premier League – reportedly earning a whopping £500,000 a week when taking into account bonuses – and has nothing to show for it.
The club should take their losses and promote a younger, more promising player from the academy who is actually determined to prove himself – because Sanchez looks like he’s finished at the top level.
Do you agree that Manchester United should sell Alexis Sanchez and replace him someone with more determination? Or should we give the forward more time to prove himself? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
