Jose Mourinho is right. Paul Pogba needs to be more consistent for Manchester United!

Jose Mourinho allegedly launched into a tirade against Paul Pogba in the Manchester United dressing room after his poor performance in the 2-2 draw against Southampton – and rightly so!

Jose Mourinho’s relationship with Paul Pogba at Manchester United has taken a turn for the worse yet again.

After the 2-2 draw at St Mary’s on the weekend, many fans were frustrated at the midfielder’s lacklustre performance – and it seems like the manager shared this frustration.

According to reports, Mourinho had this to say to Pogba in the away dressing room after the game:

"“You don’t play.“You don’t respect players and supporters. And you kill the mentality of the good honest people around you.“You are like a person with a flu, with a virus in a closed room – you pass that virus to the others.” [The Telegraph]"

Yikes.

He’s not wrong though.

Although the Frenchman can come up with moments of brilliance to seal a victory, more often than not, his useless showboating costs us valuable points.

Against Southampton, Pogba was dispossessed no less than eight times by my count – when he should have been pushing forward to try to get the win.

That was a disgraceful performance by a player who apparently wants to captain Manchester United one day.

Do you think Roy Keane, Nemanja Vidic or Wayne Rooney would have pulled the same stunts as Paul Pogba while wearing the armband? Didn’t think so.

Yes, Mourinho can be overly harsh with his players at times, but in this case, he has a point.

Pogba is doing little to dispell the toxicity surrounding the club by constantly sulking on social media and hinting he and Mourinho are not seeing eye-to-eye.

At least when Mourinho was questioned about his spat with Pogba after the Southampton game, he refused to comment about it – keeping the dispute between himself and his player.

Pogba needs to grow up. Fast. We have a big game against Arsenal on Wednesday and we can’t afford to have a passenger in midfield…
