Alexis Sanchez to leave Manchester United in January after falling out with Jose Mourinho!
By Ali Akbar
Reports suggest that Alexis Sanchez is more eager than ever to leave Manchester United after being snubbed by Jose Mourinho in his squad selection for the Young Boys game. But where will his likely destination be?
The Alexis Sanchez saga just keeps getting worse and worse.
When the Chilean arrived from Arsenal in January after a swap deal which involved Henrikh Mkhitaryan going the other way, Manchester United fans were ecstatic.
We had got rid of a problematic player and replaced him with a proven Premier League goalscorer. A bargain, right?
Well, not exactly.
Sanchez has been abysmal since making the move to Old Trafford – there are no two ways about it. He has only scored four goals in 30 appearances in all competitions – a terrible return for a player of his calibre.
To make matters worse, it has been revealed that the 29-year-old is allegedly on £300,000 a week – rising to £500,000 a week when taking into account bonuses and image rights.
Wow. Just… wow.
At first, Jose Mourinho refused to drop Sanchez no matter how poor he was. But now even he seems to have had enough with the forward’s lack of goals and has left him out of the squad entirely on numerous occasions this season.
According to a report in The Mirror, Sanchez has been angered by how he’s been treated by the Portuguese – particularly after he was left out of the squad that faced Young Boys in the Champions League, even though he was fit – and is now looking for a move elsewhere in January.
The same report also revealed the Chilean international most likely destination – Thomas Tuchel’s Paris Saint-Germain.
If the club want to salvage anything from the terrible Sanchez/Mkhitaryan swap, they should probably go ahead and sell Sanchez in January and hope that the transfer fee covers some of the damage he has done to our wage bill.
