Manchester United visited the Etihad to take on Manchester City before the international break. As the Premier League return is almost upon us, Ollie Slack writes his 5Q review on the 3-1 defeat for FanSided’s Man City Square.
Question 1
Are you happy with Mourinho and will he keep the team and fans happy?
@ollieslack_ (Red Devil Armada): No, I don’t think he’s the man to take the club forward. There’s no long-term ambition. But he was backed last January with a contract extension so if the hierarchy believe he’s the man for the job he should see out his contract.
Keeping fans happy will rely purely on results, but it’s a dangerous game trying to win playing so defensively. If you slip up fans will jump on you not only for a poor result but for a poor performance.
Question 2
How big do you think the gulf between the two sides is now?
@ollieslack_ (Red Devil Armada): As big as I’ve ever known it. Not because we have gotten so bad but because of how relentless and polished City are. We weren’t much better under LVG or David Moyes but City are a different gravy now.
Question 3
@ollieslack_ (Red Devil Armada): Not really. Ashley Young did well and showed the fight to play in such a big game. Marcus Rashford as well I thought he held his own really well considering he had no support. Held the ball up and drew fouls when the defence was under immense pressure.
Question 4
Will Alexis Sanchez and Fred become the players you thought they were?
@ollieslack_ (Red Devil Armada): Sánchez is a worry but seems to be picking up a bit with his performances in the last few weeks. He now needs the stats to go with it, though.
I feel for Fred because of the mess the club is in, people are quick to criticise his performances but he should be given a year to settle like any other signing would. People aren’t talking about Keita or Fabinho anymore!
Question 5
What are your predictions for United at the end of the season?
@ollieslack_ (Red Devil Armada): The season will peter out and we’ll be the lowest in the table of the big 6. May have a cup run of some sort in a bid to get European football but Mourinho will get sacked for missing out.
