Attack
Anthony Martial – 7
Martial looked dangerous throughout the game, and was close to scoring in the second half with a terrific curled effort from the edge of the box. He was also great defensively, as he tracked back constantly and put in some great tackles. We’re disappointed that he didn’t grab a goal this time round, because he certainly deserved one, but he’ll no doubt return to his goalscoring form soon enough.
Alexis Sanchez – 8
The Chilean forward offered something very different to Romelu Lukaku up top. His movement was so much better, as was his touch and hold up play. He also brought Martial and others into the game constantly with his terrific link-up play. Although he didn’t score, we’re confident he’ll keep his place at centre-forward even after Lukaku returns from injury.
Jesse Lingard – 6
Lingard’s movement is arguably the best part of his game. He was constantly drifting around the pitch and coming back to pick up the ball. However, sometimes we just need a forward to go direct, and unfortunately, Lingard was not that player on Wednesday. Last season, the England international scored some stunning goals. We need that Lingard to return soon, and if he does, he could make the right-wing position his own.
