Marcus Rashford
Rashford would have been down after missing out on a consecutive start as the number nine yesterday. Having replaced Romelu Lukaku for the match against Everton, Rashford was then dropped for the match against Bournemouth with Alexis Sanchez starting instead.
However, after a below par first half, Rashford was re-introduced fairly sharply after the restart and once again made a difference.
Bournemouth centre-half Nathan Ake had had a comfortable afternoon up until United’s number 10 entered the pitch. But Rashford caused him all sorts of problems. His one touch link up play with the attacking players around him was refreshing to see, especially given how United have failed to link play with Romelu Lukaku so far this campaign.
Rashford will now be hoping Mourinho has seen enough in him as a number nine to become the main striker at the club. That’s why the goal was so important to the 21-year old, showing in his celebration, Mourinho demands his strikers score goals regularly.
