Manchester United left it late to snatch an injury time winner against Bournemouth yesterday after trailing 1-0 during the first half. But it wasn’t until some inspired substitutions from Jose Mourinho, that United were able to compete in the game. So who were the winners and losers from the win?
Manchester United went into the match having gone unbeaten in six against Bournemouth winning five of them but it feels as though they are a real bogey side of the Red Devils.
After the opening 30 minutes, it looked as though that feeling was ringing true as Bournemouth piled on the pressure carving through United’s defence.
Callum Wilson opened the scoring in the 11th minute but Bournemouth fans would have been perplexed as to how they weren’t further ahead by the time United netted their opening goal.
Alexis Sanchez set up Anthony Martial to net his fifth goal in four games and send the teams in at the break level.
In the second half Mourinho’s men upped the tempo and after substitutes, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford entered proceedings. United took control of the game and the pressure told when Rashford slammed the ball home in the 92nd minute of the match to clinch their third win in four games.
So who were the big winners and who has suffered a real setback after a win which moved United into 6th place in the table with some tricky looking fixtures on the horizon?
