Question 5
Chelsea MOTM? Manchester United MOTM?
@Travtical (PoL): Before he came off, Kovacic was probably the man of the match. He was causing United a lot of problems with his dribbles. Sarri likes to do the same types of subs each match but it still felt harsh to pull Kovacic. Overall, it would probably still have to be Hazard even though he had himself a subpar game by his recent standards.
United’s MOTM was easily Martial and it only made us regret not trying to send Willian your way and take Martial in the process. That kid was Mbappe before Mbappe was Mbappe and he can still be something truly great given the right guidance. Preferably by an Italian chain smoker in a few months time.
@ol14__ (RDA): Hazard. Not his best day in terms of end product but still looked the most dangerous every time he got the ball.
For United, shoutouts to the defence, Young, Smalling, Lindelof and Shaw all were terrific. Obviously Martial for his two goals too, but I’m going to go for one of the former-Blues, both of who performed very well.
But Juan Mata gets just ahead of Nemanja Matic due how well he executed Mourinho’s tactical instructions to man-mark Chelsea’s main playmaker. Could have easily been Fellaini or Herrera in that role but Juan proved brains are superior to brawn.
