Question 4
Former-Blue Juan Mata was used to man-mark Jorginho out of the game, do you feel Sarri could have found another way to set up to get around that?
@Travtical (PoL): Regardless of what Sarri sees the opponent doing, he will stick to his own tactics. Much like Arsene Wenger, he puts more focus on how his team plays than how the opponent is playing. That’s not to say he doesn’t make adjustments, but to see it in a game is pretty rare from him so far. We kinda expected United to man-mark Jorginho and then we’d just play down the flanks, but we didn’t expect Mata to be the one to do it (and decently to boot).
@ol14__ (RDA): Potentially. However, even if the supply from Jorginho is stemmed, the ball is going to find it’s way to Hazard somehow, and once he gets it anything can happen. When you have a player like Hazard in your side, the team becomes so much more dangerous, because even on your off days, one moment of magic can nick something.
Could be a problem going forward for Sarri if other teams decide to replicate Mourinho’s tactics and man mark Jorginho, however.
