In the World Cup match between Belgium and Tunisia, Romelu Lukaku proves his worth in a 5-2 win.

Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku already proved his worth  in the previous World Cup match, where he also netted twice. Additionally, Belgium’s attack boasts with Lukaku up top, and Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens play on the wings. With Lukaku’s current run of form, there is no telling how far Belgium can go in the tournament.

Surprisingly, possession between the two teams almost split 50-50. However, Tunisia had 51% possession throughout the whole match. On the attack, Belgium outshot Tunisia by a large number, as expected. Belgium had twenty-three shots; compared to Tunisia’s sixteen. In addition, Belgium had five corners; while Tunisia only had two.

Romelu Lukaku’s first goal came in the sixteenth minute. Mertens plays a through ball into the middle of Tunisia’s defense, and Lukaku receives the pass and drives a low shot to the back post. The Manchester United striker gave the keeper no chance to save the shot.

Lukaku’s second goal came from a build up of play deep in the opposing half. For instance, Thomas Meunier split defenders to find Lukaku behind the opposing defense. A cheeky chip from Lukaku went right over the keeper and into the back of the net. The Manchester United striker secured two in the Tunisia match, which helped Belgium immensely in their World Cup campaign. All United fans hope he can find this form when he returns to Premier League action.

Even though Romelu Lukaku had a great match, he picked up a slight injury.

The Belgian striker came off the pitch in the fifty-ninth minute, as he damaged a ligament in his ankle, according to The Guardian. As Belgium approaches the round of sixteen, Roberto Martinez looks to rotate the squad. Also, he promised that there would be “major changes” in the match with England.

Belgium has not released a statement on when Lukaku will return to play.

In the end, Lukaku is Belgium’s leading goal scorer, and he still has many years left to play. While he sustained an injury, he will make a return, most likely, before the tournament is over. As of now, there is no telling when the Manchester United man will return. Next, Belgium takes on England in their final match of the group stages.
