Alexis Sanchez had his best performance in a United shirt

Sanchez continued his 100% record at Wembley yesterday scoring Manchester United’s opening goal. As well as finishing off Paul Pogba’s cross excellently the Chilean played a big hand in helping get Jose Mourinho’s side over the line.

Sanchez’ work rate throughout the whole game was brilliant. Chasing back to help out Ashley Young on multiple occasions. But importantly his work rate going forward never proceeded to drop, carrying the ball forward and like Pogba allowing Manchester United’s centre-backs a breather.

Jose Mourinho chose to leave Sanchez higher in the second half, knowing Spurs would come out and look to snatch an equaliser. Therefore, Sanchez could work with Lukaku on the counter-attack to kill the game. A tactic which looked very dangerous with the likes of Pogba and Lingard joining them too.
