Ander Herrera proves his worth to the side again

Herrera started his fourth game in a row for only the second time this season and perhaps played one of his best. The Spaniard has been in terrific form since returning from injury, playing well against Manchester City, Bournemouth and now Spurs.

I think the display in the week in the holding midfield role was outstanding and he deserved the man of the match. And he backed that up with another top display yesterday.

After like many, having a poor start not picking up Dele Alli, Herrera settled into the game and won a number of crucial tackles on the edge of his box. Into the second half he continued his rather bitty style, fouling to disrupt Tottenham’s match rythym. But he also provided a threat going forward eventually smashing home the winner.

These last two weeks Ander Herrera has reminded us what an important player he is in Jose Mourinho’s squad. Not just because of his own performances but he allows players like Pogba perform better.
