A reminder for you that David De Gea is THE BEST!

I think it is now almost universally accepted that David De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world. But Saturday the Manchester United keeper produced another superb stop to win another match for the club.

I’ve lost count the number of times De Gea has won games for United. And saves don’t get much more important than retaining a 3-2 lead against your local rivals after coming from two goals down. It should go down as one of the best saves in Manchester United’s long and glittering history.

As the ball floats over Bailly’s head to an unmarked Sergio Aguero, for a split second every Manchester United fan assumed: “GOAL”. But not De Gea. Outstretches his left arm like a jab in boxing. Generating enough power in his wrists to turn the ball over the crossbar.

The concentration required to pull off sublime saves must be incredibly demanding. Even more, so considering he wasn’t tested at all in the second half. I have run out of words to describe the man.

Due to the number of times De Gea has won matches for United, even though I haven’t seen much of Peter Schmeichel as a young fan, for me, the Spaniard has to be our greatest ever goalkeeper. Had De Gea been at the club with throughout Sir Alex Ferguson’s monarchy, we would be talking about a goalkeeper who has singlehandedly won Manchester United silverware, no doubt.
