Manchester United star puts in performance of the season against City

In the most recent Manchester Derby, Manchester United had an abysmal first half. However, Pogba’s second half heroics earn him man of the match.

Going into the second half, it appeared as if Manchester City were going to pile goals on top of United. Despite their plans, Pogba stepped up and spoiled their title celebrations. Pogba’s second half performance justifies his large price tag, even though this does not happen that often.

Before the match, rumors circulated that the French star could leave United for rivals Manchester City. After the Manchester Derby, Jose Mourinho surely thought twice about Pogba’s relevance in his starting eleven.

Saturday’s performance from Pogba was nothing short of his best performance this season. As a matter of fact, Manchester United’s comeback began in the 53rd minute off of a superb chest pass from Ander Herrera. The French star cooly passed the ball into the lower right hand corner.

Literally minutes later, Pogba strikes yet again. This time the ball came over the top of the Manchester City defense, and Pogba leapt up and headed the ball into the net. On both occasions, Pogba put the ball well out of Ederson’s reach.

The comeback was complete. Manchester United brought the game back level in a matter of 2 minutes. Not only did Pogba score for United, but he also ran the midfield, providing plenty of support in the attack.

Pogba on his way out of Manchester United?

Rumors circulated before the match that Pogba could be on his way to City. However, after the performance Pogba gave, Mourinho will surely think twice before he impulsively sells one of the world’s biggest signings.

Mourinho must understand that Pogba is not just a goal scoring machine. Yes, he does score goals from time to time, but his play is most valuable when assisting his teammates on and off the ball. Pogba is an impact player, even when he does not have the ball.

Pogba’s terrific game against the competitions toughest opponent proved Mourinho wrong. For weeks, the French star missed game after game due to injury and poor form. The most recent Manchester Derby was a statement for Paul Pogba. Perhaps, this is a sign of better things to come from the superstar.
