Manchester City have one of the most potent attacks in the league, but David de Gea is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. How will the Spaniard fare against City?

Manchester City look to trounce de Gea’s efforts in goal in this weekend’s derby. The Spanish number one has been great in this season’s league play. Thus, de Gea aims to step up to the task and keep a clean sheet against an impressive Manchester City side.

So far, de Gea has 31 appearances for Manchester United. In addition, of those 31 appearances, he kept 16 clean sheets. Furthermore, de Gea leads the league in clean sheets, a difficult task to accomplish.

Additionally, Manchester United’s first choice goalkeeper has a total of 99 saves this season. More importantly, de Gea has not made an error leading to goal. Going into one of the seasons biggest games on Saturday, de Gea looks to keep up the good work between the sticks.

David de Gea will face heavy fire from Manchester City, but who could he be matching up against?

In attack, de Gea could face either Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus. Followers of Manchester United might prefer de Gea battle Jesus instead of Aguero.

For instance, Aguero is one of the best strikers in the league, and probably among the best in Europe. On the season, the Argentinian has 21 goals and six assists. Aguero is a proven goal scorer, and he could possibly give Manchester United a difficult time.

In addition to Aguero or Jesus, de Gea will face competent wingers as well. For example, Raheem Sterling is in form, scoring a large portion of Manchester City’s goals as well. The young English winger has 16 goals and seven assists. With his speed on the wing, Manchester United could struggle to contain the dangerous winger.

Ultimately, City’s attacking power is fueled through a talented midfield. So, it will be up to Manchester United’s outfield to stomp out any looming attack. All the odds stack against Manchester United, but de Gea is up to the challenge.

Premier League analysts, bettors, and fans all favor the Citizens over the Red Devils, but they cannot be so quick to count Manchester United out. Historically, United is one of the most unpredictable teams. Going into the weekend, Mourinho must prepare his men for one of the toughest games of the season. With de Gea in goal, United can go on to surprise a few people.
