Manchester United: 5 keys to victory vs. Manchester City

5. Possession is a must.

In the past week, City played against Everton. The Citizens boasted a whopping 82

% percent possession over the Toffees.

From studying Manchester United’s gameplay, one could conclude that United is not a possession team. Mourinho’s tactics work best off of the counter-attack. Also, United have a bad habit of sitting back and absorbing the attack from the opposition.

If Manchester United are to win, they must maintain possession of the ball. Manchester City are a dominating force because they pass the ball so well.

Certainly, Manchester United can step up to the plate and hold the ball by any means necessary, even if it means passing back to defenders.
