Zlatan Ibrahimovic left Manchester United last week and now his shirt number is up for grabs. I’m going to have a look at which players could and should wear the shirt?
The shirt number is an iconic one at Manchester United. Second behind the illustrious number seven and nine; Wayne Rooney adding prestige to the number becoming United’s record top goalscorer.
People will argue “what does it matter”? It only takes a glance at the last few players to don the number seven shirt at Old Trafford to see what pressure can do to you. On the other hand, you can use it to your advantage and thrive off it. Like Lukaku when handed the number nine shirt.
But who deserves to have the iconic number ironed onto their red shirt next season? Here our are contenders…
