Among recent rumors, Manchester United decides to terminate their contract with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Swedish striker has barely seen the pitch in the 2017/18 season. Furthermore, because of this, the club is releasing last season’s top scorer. Where will United’s number 10 land? According to the Manchester United’s official site, Ibrahimovic is on his way to the LA Galaxy.

Last season, Ibrahimovic’s successful season came to an abrupt halt after the striker  suffered a ligament tear in his knee. While he suffered from a substantial injury, Ibrahimovic made a remarkably fast recovery. However, Ibrahimovic’s return to the pitch ended abruptly, as he was not ready to make a return.

According to Mark Ogden with ESPN, Ibrahimovic is set to earn a 3 million dollar per year wage. Ibrahimovic signed a 2 year contract with the American club.

However, despite earning a wage as large as 3 million dollars, Ibrahimovic will not be a perpetual starter.

In a statement on Manchester United’s official site, the club said, “Everyone at the club would like to thank Zlatan for his contribution to the team since his arrival and wishes him well for the future.”

Here are some of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s best goals in red:

What does this mean for Manchester United?

As the Swedish front-man has not played much at all this season, spectators can expect very little change within the club. Because of Ibrahimovic’s absence, Romelu Lukaku grew into his role at Manchester United. Thus, Lukaku’s success this season softens the blow from Ibrahimovic’s departure.

Manchester United formed a formidable squad in the offseason, and Mourinho knows that the Swede will not get playing time. For Manchester United, this move makes sense, even though it is a free transfer.

If one recalls correctly, Manchester United received Ibra on a free transfer as well. Ultimately, Ibrahimovic is reaching retirement age, and he is looking to play more football before he retires. With Lukaku’s success, there is a very small chance that Ibrahimovic would see the pitch at Manchester United.

In the end, Ibrahimovic has a remarkable trophy case, and he certainly will continue to win in the MLS. Ibrahimovic has multiple different league cup victories from four different countries. However, no player has ever won in five different countries. Could Zlatan Ibrahimovic make history with the LA Galaxy?
