All season, de Gea kept Manchester United in the game. He is the best goalkeeper in the world, and Wednesday’s match-up with Sevilla proves exactly why.
Within the first few minutes of the game, de Gea faced a shot and had to make a save at full stretch. During the first half, he was on the receiving end of multiple shots. To keep a clean sheet in this match, de Gea would have to work for it.
On one attempt, de Gea faced a header from Correa within the six yard box, and made an impressive save. Sevilla created a lot of opportunities on goal, so the Spaniard had a busy night. At the end of the match, Sevilla managed to total twenty-five shots. Despite outshooting United, one man carried the team to a draw.

In Manchester United’s first leg of the Champions League, Mourinho fielded a defensive squad against an attack-minded Sevilla team.
Manchester United’s defense was poor, and gave easy opportunities to Muriel up front. Surprisingly, Mourinho did not field Eric Bailly, as he is a physical opponent when playing any team.
Antonio Valencia played a great match, dribbling through opposition on the right wing, and even providing a few crosses. Valencia stood out in today’s match, and supporters have a lot to be happy about with the Ecuadorian.
Mourinho parked the bus in this match. There were very few opportunities on offense, and when a chance arose it was squandered. The only player that showed up to the game was de Gea.
