Manchester United: Jesse Lingard is the perfect number 10 for Jose Mourinho
By Ollie Slack
Our very own Jesse Lingard is just what Jose Mourinho wants!
Jose Mourinho wants consistency. He rarely strays from his main spine. He even brought Matic on for the last 10 minutes against Swansea in an already decided Caraboa Cup tie. Mourinho wants a number 10 who can play in every type of game. At home, away from home, against a bus, on the counter. And with Lingard, he may just have that. He can pick up the second balls, Lukaku’s knockdowns, make runs for Pogba, come short to collect the ball and now, he can finish.
For Lingard to prove he has become more clinical, he needs to over a longer period of time. However, at this moment, he has shown he can produce in any match. Counter-attacking at Watford and Arsenal and against a defensively organised West Brom. But what will please Jose Mourinho most, was Lingard producing that moment of magic to gain points against Everton and Burnley.

That’s exactly what Hazard used to do week in week out for Mourinho’s Chelsea. When the team is not firing you need that one player, on one occasion, to be. In a dogged away performance, when you get that one chance, you need someone to take it. Hazard did that. Now Lingard is starting too. The type of player that usually costs £100 million plus, has grown and flourished in his own home.
