Sergej Milinkovic-Savic set for record-shattering move to Manchester United

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have once again turned their  eyes to Italy as Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic continues to shine this season.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s performances in recent months have garnered the attention on European giants, but according to reports Manchester United are the favorites to land the Serbian.

According to The Express, Manchester Untied are prepared to splash out

for the 22-year old in January. Should this move materialize, it would be well ahead of the £89m spent on Paul Pogba.

Jose Mourinho is in desperate need of midfield reinforcements. Marouane Fellaini is out of contract at the end of the season. While Ander Herrera and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have both been rumored to be on the transfer list.

The Red Devils will make another midfielder a priority in 2018’s transfer windows and Milinkovic-Savic has to top the list.

While the Serbian’s brother served a failed loan at Manchester United, it would appear as if Milinkovic-Savic would fit the team much better. Paired in the middle with compatriot Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba the trio should be an imposing force in each and every match.

While £89m is an absolutely eye-watering amount, its not unreasonable in today’s market. Milinkovic-Savic is undoubtedly one of the world’s best young talents. And Manchester United have the financial backing to easily make this transfer work.

Milinkovic-Savic would have the opportunity to learn under his compatriot Matic for the foreseeable future should the move happen.

The United midfield, while mostly young, has key pieces nearing the horizon of their careers.

Mourinho has been rumored to be in the market for another young pairing for Paul Pogba to act as the foundation for the future. Names like Schalke’s Leon Goretzka and Marco Asensio have been thrown around. However, reports suggest that the Lazio man is Jose’s preferred target.

The Premier League is built for tough, hard-nosed midfielders like Milinkovic-Savic. Should this move happen, Manchester United and Jose Mourinho would be set in midfield for years to come.
