According to The Guardian, the incident took place in the hallway to the dressing room, and involved some 20-odd players. The incident has sparked an investigation from the English FA which will surely lead to more information becoming available in the days to come.

The focal-point of the altercation was reportedly between United manager Jose Mourinho and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.

According to the report, Mourinho ripped Ederson for an apparent lack of respect.

“You f***ing show respect! Who are you?”

“You f***ing show respect!”

Ederson didn’t take kindly to his compatriots’ remarks.

A war of shoving, shouting, and … umm, milk throwing ensued as the two bitter rival clashed in the tunnel. Ederson made headlines when he tossed milk on the United manager.

This isn’t the first time United have been involved in a tunnel incident with a rival. In 2004, Cesc Fabregas threw a pizza on then-manager Alex Ferguson. That incident has gone done in memory, and this bust-up with City will surely do the same.

Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta was hit in the head and was left with bloodied face after being struck with a thrown object.

The hatred between these teams is evident, and this incident just goes to show that this is truly one of the great rivalries in English football. It goes beyond the fans to the point where even the players are willing to take action against one another beyond the pitch.

On the Manchester United side, The Guardian article stated that Romelu Lukaku was also one of the most involved players. After another frustrating 90 minutes, his emotions and temper were obviously at a boiling point.

In the end City walked away the winners. They took all three points and were obviously jubilant and ready to celebrate. However, it shows the fight that Manchester United possess. They weren’t content with their performance, and they definitely weren’t about to let these ‘Noisy Neighbors’ celebrate in their own house.
