Ashley Young’s run of good form highlights Manchester United squad
By Wyatt Miner
In recent weeks, Manchester United have gone on a impressive run thanks to an unlikely hero, Ashley Young.
In a thrilling 4-3 triumph over Watford, Ashley Young stood out above the rest netting two goals. Obviously, Young has found his form in Mourinho’s complicated system. Due to this, the Englishman is proving to supporters, and more importantly Mourinho, why he is a must start.
First of all, Young’s success against Watford was truly enjoyable to watch. There is no doubt that the versatile player impacted the game tremendously. He netted one goal from open play, but he shortly followed up with a stunning free kick. This is the Ashley Young supporters have been longing for, and now he has found his stride under Mourinho.

Ashley Young kept up the intensity in the following week against a great Arsenal side. In this game, Young showed just how versatile he is, playing a more supportive role in the starting eleven.
For example, Arsenal had a free kick on the edge of the 18 yard box, and Alexis took a shot at the goal and Young came back to keep the ball out of the net. Either way, Young proves to the club how he can be used in any part of the field.
Mourinho should take note of Young’s efforts because this is a player that is in rare form. In the Manchester United squad, there is not a player in better form than Ashley Young is. With Pogba out against Manchester City this weekend, teammates should look to Young for inspiration. He is an experienced player in the Premier League and he is more than capable to lead the team to victory.
What position should Young play?
Supporters of the club know that Young can play multiple positions on the field. In my opinion, Young will be best suited in a defensive role against Manchester City. In the left-back position, Ashley Young can provide creative assistance and join the attack as well.
This will allow Young to showcase his skills on both sides of the ball. If I’m Jose Mourinho, Young will get the start against City this weekend. He has proven that he deserves a starting role.

In the end, Mourinho is our fearless leader and he is calling the shots. He must recognize the Englishman’s efforts in games because players that play to that level will help the team win games. Ultimately, Ashley Young is only one player out of eleven that can be fielded, but if his teammates feed off of his success, there is no way Manchester United can lose.
