This was the goal that made strangers to the game fall in love with it. It’s the goal kids tried to recreate for years afterwards.

It’s an iconic strike, right at home at Old Trafford. A fitting venue for for a legend to release this volley.

Aston Villa successfully cleared the initial corner — only there was a problem. It was falling right to Paul Scholes on the edge of the box.

He took aim, and connected with the ball to send a bullet back the keeper way.
