Manchester United October Goal of the Month: Anthony Martial vs. Tottenham (Video)
Today marks the start of a new segment on Red Devil Armada. Starting today we will look back at all of Manchester United’s goals from the past month and select a winner for the ‘Goal of the Month’ award.
The winner of this inaugural segment is obvious. Anthony Martial’s late-winner against Tottenham was epic to say the least. The goal rescued three points for the home team, and kept Manchester United (for the time being) in the title race with Manchester City.
The goal’s build up was superb. David De Gea’s long pass find the head of Romelu Lukaku in the opposition’s half. The Big Belgian’s backwards flick-on falls perfectly to the feet of Anthony Martial who is in behind the defense. Martial sorts the ball out and tucks the ball into the corner of the net. Old Trafford explodes.
But why explain it when you can watch it. Volume UP:
The Frenchman’s goal was the exclamation point of him letting the world know: “I’m back!”
The reaction of the Tottenham players is priceless. Everything about the goal brings back memories of a United not so far in the past. This was a “Fergie Time” goal.
He’s been on an incredible run this season for Manchester United. It’s great to see when less than a year ago his future looked incredibly uncertain.
He’s a fan favorite amongst United fans. They love to sing his name, and to see him finally getting another chance and taking full advantage is a joy to witness.
