Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is set to be used in a player plus cash deal for Tottenham Hotspur Left-back Danny Rose.

Rumours Luke Shaw departing the club have increased over the last week months with the talented defender struggling for game time.

The latest rumour is that Shaw, 22-years old,  is going to be used in a player plus cash deal for Tottenham Hotspur Left-back Danny Rose, who is 27. The additional cash amount hasn’t been mentioned

Two years ago had anyone mentioned this in the pub they would have been cut off immediately.

However, now may be a different story. The youngster was signed from Southampton in June 2014 for approximately £30m.

So far he has made only 49 appearances for United’s first team which isn’t too bad for a normal play of his age.

When taking into consideration his consistency and performances while at Southampton, it’s fair to say he should have many more appearances.

Shaw had already played 67 first teams games for boyhood club Southampton in two seasons before joining United.

Career Threatening Injury

Luke Shaw has had a series of injury issues during his time with Manchester United. The most serious being a broken leg suffered in 2015.

This came at a time when he was looking to be well on his way to World Class status.

Danny Rose

Tottenham Left-back Danny Rose’s stock has risen sharply over the last couple of seasons. He is now widely considered England’s best left back, which when compared to the competition might not be that difficult.

Signed from boyhood club Leeds United in 2017, Rose has gone on to make 176 first team appearances since.

He’s best remembered for his debut goal in the North London derby where he was playing on the

left-wing.

Comparison

Rose is five years Shaw’s senior — a long time in the world of football.

Prior to his horrific injury, Shaw was widely considered (out of White Hart Lane) to be the better player.

However, for consistency Rose is definitely the better option for now.

Both are marauding full-back who love to get forward down the left-wing. While Shaw is probably the quicker of the two, Rose makes up for it in experience and goals. Having scored 11 goals to Shaw’s 0.

Shaw and Mourinho

Much has been said about the relationship between Shaw and manager Mourinho and very little of it positive.

Part of the problem is rumoured to have been caused by Shaw rejecting Mourinho by signing for United rather than the Portuguese’s Chelsea.

Antemporary move away from United would be beneficial for the player, allowing him to regain match fitness without the added pressure of playing for United.
