Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has claimed his boyhood club can still get a lot better despite their undefeated start to the season so far.

Neville was speaking to Stretty News TV when he stated his belief and even had a few suggestions on how Manchester United can get better. Gary won 8 Premier League titles during his career at the club so it’s fair to say he knows a fair share on what it takes to win England’s top division.

“We can get a lot better. I’d like to see one more flair player in the team. I’d like to see a winger who can beat a man and get everyone on the edge of their seat. Having been in Spain for four months, I love Griezmann. I would love to see Griezmann at United. He’s quick, he’s inventive he can beat players he can score goals.” said the former defender.

Neville continued, “You would love to see Cristiano (Ronaldo) and Neymar and (Gareth) Bale and people like that because you know they would light up Old Trafford.”. While there have been many debates about Ronaldo returning to his former stomping grounds and Neymar quite clearly off the market, Bale and Griezmann represent more realistic options.

Both players were subject to much speculation this summer with Mourinho even commentating on Bale’s status at Madrid, trying to unsettle the club and player simultaneously. Ultimately Zidane proved that the Welshman had a place in his squad but should Gareth continue to be left on the bench, Jose may consider going back in for him.

As for the other star player in Madrid, Griezmann’s speculation went as far as him saying there was a pretty good chance of him moving to Manchester United much to Neville’s delight. Eventually however, the rumours died down when it became clear that the talented Frenchman would not leave his club due to their transfer ban.

Mourinho may reconsider a bid for Antoine during the winter transfer window when Atletico Madrid are free to do business again. A tougher time do complete deals in but executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward may be keen to finally land his ‘Galactico’ signing. Although Matic was a great signing and Lukaku comes close to that label, one gets the feeling Ed would be looking for more.

Either way, there’s definitely a place in Manchester United’s current squad for a top winger and Jose made it clear that was his priority. Any of the above mentioned names would add quality to the flanks but Neville’s nod to Griezmann is perhaps the most realistic move. Can the Red Devils sanction a top transfer in January?
