Manchester United’s Lukaku: There’s plenty of goals in this team
Romelu Lukaku has insisted that there’s more to Manchester United’s attack than just himself despite being the club’s top goalscorer so far this season.
The Manchester United striker has managed to reach double figures in total for club and country already this season but has had the likes of Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Fellaini and Bailly all chip in with goals as well. Lukaku was also Everton’s top goalscorer last season and Mourinho will be hoping he can do the same for his new club.
Speaking to MUTV, Romelu had this to say about the squad’s ability to find the net, “There are plenty of goals in the team. That’s what the fans want, it’s what we all want. We work really hard in training on a daily basis and it’s good that different people can jump in whenever.”.

Rio Ferdinand also had some rather straightforward advice for the Belgian when speaking on BT Sport. The former Manchester United defender faced his fair share of world-class strikers and often came out on top in those duels so may know a thing or two about what it takes to lead the line for one of the best in Europe.
“If he wants to elevate himself into the elite of being a world-class striker he has to produce in the Champions League. He’s the top goal-scorer in the Premier League as it stands but he’s got to make sure that he puts the chances away.” said Ferdinand.
Rio continued his slightly harsh criticism, “He’s already missed some big chances. But we know he can finish when he does get chances, he’s just got to do it consistently.”. The Englishman made a career out of featuring consistently alongside Vidic in Manchester United’s challenge for silverware over the past decade.
Fans were extremely excited when Lukaku’s transfer was announced but the former Everton man would soon find out that he wouldn’t be Mourinho’s only signing up front. Ibrahimovic has also joined the Red Devils on a free transfer once more after initially being released but Romelu has previously insisted he knew all along that he would face competition from the Swede.

While many expected Rashford and Martial to compete with Lukaku for the striker spot, it appears that Jose had planned for the pair to compete with each other for the left wing spot instead. Whether the Portuguese tactician plans to eventually play all three alongside each other is yet to be seen but should Manchester United hope to win a trophy this year, they’ll need Romelu to keep on firing in the goals.
