Manchester United defender Phil Jones has had his say on fellow club and country teammate, Marcus Rashford and is convinced he’ll be world class.
The England duo have played together on the club and international scene with both players playing in both games over the current international break. Rashford, in particular, managed a goal and assist in the game vs Slovakia, winning the man of the match award and Jones’ praise.

“He’s a great lad off the pitch and, on it, he’s a special talent. He’s already special but he’ll be a world-beater one day, he’s that good. He’s so quick, sharp, technically gifted, two-footed and a nightmare for defenders. You’ve seen it this season already, he’s given defenders nightmares.”, said Jones to the office Manchester United website.
Phil continued on Rashford’s special bond with the Red Devils fan base, “He’s an academy product and players from the youth system have done great over the last few years. He’s a special player and we’re lucky to have him.”.
Manchester United fans have certainly felt like they’ve unearthed a gem of a player in Marcus and hope to see a youngster of their own make the step up from promising player to world class talent. The love for development of home-grown players runs deep in the club’s history and is famously known across the country.
Rashford has started this season with the same enthusiasm as he did last year which will be great news for all at Old Trafford. He’s only managed the single goal for his club in three games so his performances of the international break will be welcome. By all means, a single goal so far isn’t a terrible statistic at all, particularly as it finally broke down a stubborn Leicester team.
However, Manchester United fans will be hoping to see Marcus add goals and assists to his encouraging performances. Last season he was as exciting as ever but failed to convert the thrill into meaningful contribution. Mourinho though was quick to point out that the goals will come in due time and fans mirror that belief too.

Jones, Mourinho and the whole club will be hoping Rashford can continue his staggering development and come good sooner rather than later. He does have plenty of time on his side the 19 year old but his skill demands to be seen now and impatient fans are supporting him in good times or bad. Here’s to seeing more good than bad this season.
