Pre-Season Player Preview: Henrikh Mkhitaryan

In his first season with Manchester United, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has found his niche in the starting eleven.

Under Jose Mourinho, Mkhitaryan has found his form. Additionally, he has proven himself to be a vital asset to the United attack. The Armenian found most of his success during the Europa League. In the European competition, he netted five goals. Those same five goals matched the output of Ibrahimovic.

During pre-season, the winger looked even more phenomenal than he did in the 2016/17 season. Mourinho has found a place for Henrikh, and he excels in his role. Now, the 2017/18 premier league season is just days away. Mourinho is looking to the 28 year old to be a key part in the United offense.

On top of Premier League action, the Champions League will be a challenge that United have not had in a few years. Consequently, the pressure mounts on Mkhitaryan. The Armenian winger did so well in the Europa League, but can he continue that run of form in the Champions League?

How will Mkhitaryan perform in the new season?

In my own opinion, I feel as if the talented attacker will have a great year; establishing himself as a lethal weapon. Already, I have had the chance to see the former Dortmund man play in the pre-season, and he looks promising. He will come off of an underwhelming 2016/17 Premier League season, and he will take chances and make things happen.

Mourinho will utilise the two footed footballer on the wing. Additionally, Mourinho wants Mkhitaryan to run with the ball. Again, when the gifted winger has the ball, he can dribble past opposition with ease. He is not an easy player to defend against.
