Jose Mourinho: Marouane Fellaini is not going to Galatasaray
Despite reports all but confirming Fellaini’s move to Galatasaray, manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that the big Belgian is not going to the Turkish giants after all.
Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini started for his team in today’s pre-season friendly vs Valerenga, with many expecting it to be his farewell match for the Red Devils. Instead, Mourinho in his post-match press conference shut down all the rumours linking the big man to Galatasaray.
United won 3-0 and it was Marouane who grabbed the opener with a deflected header just before half time. If indeed there was any interest in the robust midfielder, surely it would’ve increased after today’s game.

However, Mourinho was quick to laugh off recent reports by saying, “It’s easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane. He is too important to me. No chance.”. With Matic inching ever closer to a move to Old Trafford, it’ll be interesting to see whether Fellaini will see feature frequently for United.
Since signing for Everton in 2013 he’s made a total of 133 appearances for the Red Devils and managed to get himself on the scoresheet 15 times. The curly haired midfielder also managed to score himself a new contract last season under Jose so it appears the manager’s comments of his importance to the team is not just all talk.
Mourinho has consistently praised Fellaini all last season and insisted that he is worthy of the famous red shirt. Although some fans may argue otherwise, it appears he will remain at Old Trafford, at least for the time being.

Of course, Jose could also just be playing hardball in order to get more money for Marouane in order to buy another player perhaps but it’s more likely that the manager will stick to his words. With just over a month remaining for this summers transfer window, who knows what may yet happen.
